HAPS / Airship

Connectivity + Observation
From the stratosphere.

At NASSAT we develop advanced connectivity solutions specifically designed for HAPS stratospheric platforms (High Altitude Platforms), conceived to operate between 18,000 and 21,000 metres (60,000 to 70,000 feet) and pressurised passenger or payload platforms at 15,000 to 20,000 metres (50,000 to 65,000 feet). Our systems enable robust, high-capacity links along the Satellite / Stratosphere / Earth axis, minimising latency and maximising reliability in extreme environments.

Application Ecosystem

SATCOM for Observation and Communications HAPS

Unmanned stratospheric platforms designed for connectivity, surveillance and support to mission-critical operations at altitudes of up to 21,000 metres.

SATCOM for Stratospheric Tourism Airship

Unmanned stratospheric platforms designed for connectivity, surveillance and support to mission-critical operations at altitudes of up to 21,000 metres.

Connectivity options

Electronic flat-panel antennas

No moving parts, with electronic beam steering, automatic signal acquisition and dynamic polarisation selection (TRL 6).

Satellite / HAPS links

Compatible with multiple HTS and VHTS constellations, supporting instant switching (latency < 35 ms).

Stratosphere / Earth connectivity

Through massive MIMO and 3D beamforming technologies, with operational alternatives in S-band.

Structural and electronic
components

High-tech composite materials: Aerogel, Kapton, Teflon and Carbon Fibre.

Automated thermal-control systems to keep a stable internal temperature of 25°C in external conditions down to -70°C.

Vacuum assembly, hermetic sealing and protection against cosmic radiation and electrostatic charges.

Additional functionalities

Integration of position-determination, automatic tracking systems and the capability for long-range continuous operation, on both unmanned and light manned platforms.

Applications and sectors

Governments and defence

Border surveillance, maritime and air traffic control, emergency communications.

Civil protection and environment

Observation and tracking platform. Remote sensing of forest fires (FIPAS integration), climate monitoring and environmental management.

Telecommunications

Extension of mobile coverage in rural or remote areas and network backup in crisis situations.

Private companies and aerospace consortia

Extension of mobile coverage in rural or remote areas and network backup in crisis situations.

Strategic note

Currently, many HAPS projects under development lack integrated advanced communications solutions. NASSAT works actively with public and private bodies to meet this critical need with its own technology and strategic alliances.
