LATAM to expand in-flight Wi-Fi to wide-body long-haul fleet

The LATAM group will begin offering in-flight Wi-Fi on its wide-body aircraft for long-haul routes such as Santiago–Sydney, Lima–Madrid and São Paulo–London. The service, which will require an investment of US$60 million, will be implemented from 2026 and will complement the connectivity already available on short- and medium-haul flights. By the end of this year, 100% of the narrow-body fleet across all subsidiaries will have this service, reaffirming the group's commitment to innovation and a superior travel experience. LATAM currently operates the largest connected fleet in the region, with more than 250 Wi-Fi-equipped aircraft. More than 8 million passengers have already used the service, with the most active routes being Santiago–Fortaleza and Lima–Havana. "Our vision is to evolve constantly. This connectivity represents more than internet access: it is innovation in the service of a modern experience aligned with what our passengers value", said Paulo Miranda, LATAM's Vice President of Customers. The expansion is made possible through an agreement with Nassat, a leading satellite connectivity provider. The technology combines GEO and LEO satellites to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet with global coverage, including in remote areas such as the South Pacific. In addition to enhancing the passenger experience, the connectivity will enable real-time communication between the crew and ground operations, data transmission for predictive maintenance, and route optimisation from the flight deck. The initiative is complemented by the cabin modernisation programme and the introduction of new Business Suites, consolidating a proposition based on comfort, personalisation and technology. With this development, LATAM aims to ensure that every passenger can remain connected, whether to send a message, share their journey, or feel closer to home, even thousands of kilometres away.
